TEACHER TRAININGS

Mat Pilates Teacher Training

60 hours in 3 Weeks

Dates:  Rescheduled due to COVID restrictions

Pre-requisite: 10 KLPM classes or private sessions (min 5 mat classes) *

(* not included in tuition)

Trainees will learn classical Pilates foundations and mat exercises. Simultaneously you will learn KLPM’s contemporary approach and how classical Pilates applies to contemporary training in the current fitness culture. Upon successful completion, you will have basic knowledge of the body and major muscle groups required to instruct group mat classes with an organized well-balanced exercise sequence. Due to Covid-19, this training will be conducted fully online, unless restrictions are lifted. If restrictions are lifted you will have the option to join in person or stay fully online for the duration of the training. 

 

 

Approximate breakdown:

36 Hours: Interactive training

8 Hours: Observation

10 Hours: Active practice

6 Hours: Practice teaching

Hours (PST):

Fridays: 3pm-7pm 

Saturdays: 10:30-5:00pm (with lunch break)

Sundays: 10:30-5:00pm (with lunch break)

Terms 

Only those  trainees who complete all program requirements and have received approval for missed attendance will be eligible for certification graduation

Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, under any circumstances after September 1, 2020

Reformer Pilates Teacher Training

200 Hours in 8 Weeks

Prerequisite: Successful completion of KLPM Mat training* 

3 reformer private sessions*

 (* not included in tuition)

 

Designed for those planning to teach private or group reformer classes, or those looking to deepen their Pilates practice, trainees will learn KLPM signature combination of classical reformer Pilates foundations while incorporating KLPM’s contemporary approach to the reformer. Upon successful completion, you will have a complete understanding of the history of Pilates, the reformer, and reformer based exercises. Graduating trainees will have the experience and comfort to train others professionally, in a studio environment with a strong foundation and voice of their own. 

 

Approximate breakdown:

90 Hours: In-Studio Training

30 Hours: Observation

50 Hours: Practice Teaching

30 Hours: Self Practice

Pilates history, philosophies, and principles

KLPM method and unique approach and philosophy

Reformer purpose, use, best practices, safety

Training foundations (proper cueing, technique, pace,)

Classical and contemporary approach to exercises on the reformer

Anatomy

Key elements of the musculoskeletal system


Common injuries and special cases


Pre/Post-natal basics

Use of props

Exercise modifications- beginner-advanced


Jumpboard basics


Structuring a class & movement sequencing


Modifications and working with special populations


Discovering your individuality as a trainer and teaching voice 


Client assessment

How to correct muscle imbalances and postural issues

Teacher assisted stretches

Music and its role in training

Studio etiquette and machine maintenance

*Trainees must register for both Reformer and Mat training programs
